A place to remember Kalyn

Kalyn Ronald Killins, who died on January 24, 2025, in Kelowna BC, was born on June 9, 1986, in Thunder Bay Ontario, to Linda and Ron Killins. Kalyn lived a life filled with adventure, passion, mechanical prowess and meaningful connections with friends and family.

Kalyn was predeceased by his father, Ron Killins; uncle, Russ Killins; and grandparents, Eleanor and George Killins, and Zennie Dubinsky. He is lovingly remembered by his mother, Linda Killins; brothers, Bradley and Spencer (Brooklyn); niece, Viviane; grandmother, Phyllis Dubinsky; and numerous cherished aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Growing up in British Columbia, Kalyn developed a love for the outdoors, particularly skiing and camping. He attended École Pauline Haarer and NDSS in Nanaimo and later moved back to Thunder Bay, graduating from Hammarskjold High School. He pursued his passion for aviation, earning an Aviation Technician Aircraft Maintenance diploma from Confederation College in 2008. Upon graduating, he began his career at Bearskin Airlines and in September 2014, joined KF Aerospace in Kelowna, where amongst the many projects he worked on, the Lynden Air Cargo Hercules program was particularly close to his heart.

Kalyn was a respected colleague, mentor, and skilled mechanic. His expertise extended beyond his profession, as he generously helped others with vehicle and small engine repairs. He was particularly proud of his collection of Volkswagen Jettas and Husqvarna chainsaws, and also cultivated a keen interest in building and flying RC planes.

Kalyn was a self-made man, a devoted son, and a cherished brother. He loved to engage in lively discussions about a wide range of topics, eager to share his unique insights. His adventurous spirit led him on solo motorcycle trips along the West Coast and through the Nevada desert. Kalyn cherished the time spent with his family during a memorable ski trip at Big White this past December, a final celebration of his lifelong love for skiing, a passion he shared with his family at many mountains, including Hemlock Mountain and Mount Washington, from a young age.
